The French forward has sparked anger among both members of the coaching staff and fans of the Royal Club, who are calling for him to leave the team
Frustration is boiling over among supporters of Real Madrid, with much of the anger aimed at Kylian Mbappe as the club edges closer to conceding the LaLiga crown to arch-rivals FC Barcelona ahead of next week’s El Clasico.
Barcelona currently hold a commanding 11-point lead at the top, and only their failure to draw against Espanyol delayed what could have been an early title celebration at Madrid’s expense this weekend.
With Los Blancos on the verge of recording just their second season without silverware since 2009–10, supporters have turned their criticism toward the French captain—even though Mbappe is currently out with a muscle problem in his left leg.
Rather than watching the Espanyol clash from the sidelines, the World Cup winner chose to fly to Sardinia alongside his partner, Spanish actress Ester Exposito, where the pair were photographed relaxing on a yacht.

The reaction online was swift. Social media platform X was flooded with posts carrying the message “fuera” and “Mbappe out.” Reports from AS suggest that even some teammates felt the timing of his getaway created distance between him and the squad.
Across Spain, there has reportedly been a sense of confusion surrounding his trip to Italy, despite the forward returning to training on Monday. An online petition demanding “Mbappe out” has also gained traction, urging fans to act: “Madridistas, make your voice heard. If you believe change is needed, don't stay silent — sign this petition and stand for what you think is best for the club's future.” By Tuesday midday, the petition had already gathered 253,000 signatures.

Publicly, though, Real Madrid boss Alvaro Arbeloa defended his player following the 2-0 win at the weekend, insisting all procedures had been followed.
"All planning regarding injured players is always overseen by Real Madrid's medical staff, who determine when they need to go to Valdebebas and when they don't," he said. "In his free time, Mbappe can do whatever he sees fit, like any other player."
Still, according to L'Equipe, the trip—whether approved or not—did little to ease tensions in the dressing room. Figures within the Santiago Bernabeu are reportedly irritated by what they see as a lack of sensitivity during a difficult stretch of the season.

The same report adds that since his 2024 arrival from Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappe has been viewed as someone enjoying special privileges in Madrid. His tendency to stick closely with fellow French players, along with moments like arriving late to team meals, have contributed to a perception of him being overly individualistic.
Criticism has also come from former France international Emmanuel Petit, who recently claimed that Mbappe has “filled Real Madrid's dressing room with selfishness”.
