Anfield scouts are focused on some serious talent from the African continent

They already have some of the biggest stars of African football in their ranks - Salah, Mane, Keita, Matip, Origi (if you consider his Kenyan origin) and it seems Liverpool won't stop there. They have their eyes set on a couple of massive African prospects who are leaving their marks in several European clubs.

If transfer rumours are to be believed, then Liverpool are looking to revitalise their squad with some exciting young talent.

Many of the clubs key players aren’t over the hill just yet, but there are plenty who will be in their thirties in little over a year, if they aren’t already. Michael Edwards and his transfer team will no doubt be preparing for life without many of them.

According to several sources, such as The Athletic, TuttoSport, etc. - the Reds are in talks with Torino to sign a 20-year-old Ivorian Wilfried Singo. Italian media have even reported that Torino have already rejected a 23.5 million USD (2.6 billion KSH) bid from Liverpool.

In 2020/21, only five players in Serie A have averaged more attempted dribbles per 90 minutes than Singo has (among those who have featured for at least 1400 minutes), and just three have completed more.

He is also just outside the top 20 players in Italy for progressive carrying distance, moving the ball a combined total of 155 yards towards the opposition goal every 90 minutes.

However, his potential to play either as a full-back or further forward as an attacking winger, could give Jurgen Klopp an unexpected solution to two areas.

Singo could deputise for Trent Alexander-Arnold when required, a player who rarely gets the opportunity for a rest and is known for his attacking prowess, or provide extra depth among the forward line.

Make no mistake about it though, Wilfried Singo is unquestionably a thrilling young player who is destined for bigger and better things in the very near future.

The 24-year-old is known for his no-nonsense tackling and his energy levels, which would suit the style of football played by Klopp's side.

There has also been talks this week that the Reds are interested in signing Salzburg hotshot - young Zambian Patson Daka.

Daka has enjoyed a sensational season in front of goal for the Austrian side, having scored 27 goals in 31 games across all competitions, including an incredible 20 strikes in 18 matches in the country's Bundesliga to make him comfortably the league's top scorer.

Daka also bagged two goals in a pre-season friendly against Liverpool last August as well as a double in a 5-2 aggregate win over Maccabi Tel Aviv last September to help the team qualify for the Champions League, with Salzburger Nachrichten reporting that the four English heavyweights are all showing an interest in the forward, valued at the same price as the above-mentioned Singo with that figure likely to soar. Haaland's successor in the Austrian team has scored 54 goals in the last two years and the 22-year-old will be in high demand.

Another African product that the reigning Premier League champions are interested in is the Brighton and Mali midfielder Yves Bissouma. With Gini Wijnaldum soon to leave Anfield, Liverpool turned to one of the most constant players in Graham porter's squad.

Bissouma has gone from strength to strength since his move to the Premier League in 2018 with this being his most impressive season so far.

Leicester and Arsenal are also thought to have an eye on him and the Seagulls will want a big fee given he is contracted at the club until 2023.

He is a key part of Potter's team, starting 26 of their 27 league games and was particularly impressive in the 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield in February.

Maybe not having a passport of an African country but surely of African and Mali descent, another Liverpool target is the RB Leipzig's 21-year-old Ibrahima Konate.

It has been claimed that the fee involved would be in the region of 55 million USD (6 billion KSH), which is his release clause with the Bundesliga outfit.

Konate is predominantly a centre-back, but is also capable of playing at right-back or as a wing-back. Liverpool might have to battle Arsenal for his signature, according to a report.

Evening Standard claims the Gunners want the 21-year-old and have him down as a next transfer window target. Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly also in the mix.
