Since making his return to the Dockers three weeks ago, Mwalala has managed to stabilize the club and appears to be on course in having them join the title talks

Bandari extended their fine run under coach Bernard Mwalala after edging Kenya Police FC 1-0 in a FKF Premier League clash staged on Wednesday at Mbaraki Grounds.

Winger Darius Msagha settled the contest after finding the back of the net in the 72nd minute at the sun-baked facility.

Prior to the match, Police had openly displayed their financial muscle, parading two of their state-of-the-art buses at the Standard Gauge Railway's Mombasa terminus and at their training facility in South C.

The move sparked debate within the Kenyan football circles, with both praise and criticism being observed in equal measure.

However, Bandari were not to be intimidated by the off-the-pitch antics, capitalising on home advantage to secure maximum points.

Having dropped two points, in their previous encounter against Kariobangi Sharks, Bandari understood that another slip up would heavily dent their already thin title hopes.

Further, the outfit knew that unwanted results would spoil their good run under coach Benard Mwalala, who returned to the club three weeks ago.

Since his second coming, Bandari have been on a roll, winning three matches and sharing points once, a run that has seen the coastal side rise to the top half of the log.

Police, on the other hand, arrived at the clash on the back of a hard-fought 1-0 win away to Mara Sugar, an outcome that saw their new head coach Nicholas Muyoti end the search for his maiden win at the club.

Interestingly, both Muyoti and Mwalala worked together at Kakamega Homeboyz before the former moved to Nairobi City Stars in September 2021.

Bandari enjoyed large spells of dominance but could not find the back of the net, as Police mounted a spirited defence.

Equally, the visitors had their moments but were not clinical enough to penetrate through and have the ball past Allaine Ngeleka.

Bandari had their best moment of the game in the 72nd minute when Msagha kissed the back of the net to earn his side the sixth win of the campaign.

Having gathered maximum points, the 2019 cup winners will hope to extend their good run when they face AFC Leopards in their next game.

Meanwhile, Police will seek to redeem themselves in their subsequent clash against Ulinzi Stars.
