John Kamau’s Mathare, are hunting for consistency amid a fluctuating run, while the visitors ride high on a prolonged unbeaten streak that has quietly transformed them into one of the league’s most stubborn outfits under coach Osborne Monday.

Mathare United come into this match having lost 1-0 away to Bandari in their final outing of the year, a result that once again underlined their biggest issue this season: goals.

The Slum Boys have scored just nine times in 15 league matches, making them joint second-lowest scorers in the division.

They have not scored more than once in any of their last six games, though defensively they remain competitive, having not conceded more than one goal in their last eight matches.

Their recent form (W-L-D-L-W-L) reflects a side capable of grinding results but struggling to control matches offensively.

At home, Mathare’s form has been mixed. They have won two of their last six home matches, losing four, but notably they are the only team in the league so far, to have not drawn a single home game this season.

Encouragingly, they have kept two clean sheets at home recently, suggesting a compact and disciplined structure, especially in low-scoring contests.

In terms of team news, Mathare United will be hoping for an immediate impact from their new signing Michael Oduor, brought in to address their scoring struggles.

However, there are doubts over Mohamed Kilume due to a hamstring issue, while Fidel Otieno is also nursing a knock.

Much of Mathare’s attacking responsibility will fall on Elli Asieche, their top scorer with four goals, supported by wingers Paul Kinyanjui and Musa Masika.

Defensively, Kevin Ouru, Ian Omondi and Francis Kayugi are expected to anchor a familiar backline.

Murang’a Seal, by contrast, arrive unbeaten in their last nine league matches, recording three wins and six draws.

They closed December strongly with two wins and a draw, including a commanding 3-1 away victory over Mara Sugar.

Murang’a have scored 15 goals this season and have found the net in each of their last three matches, showing more attacking fluency than their hosts.

Defensively, they have been just as impressive, not conceding more than one goal in any of their last eight league games.

Away from home, Murang’a Seal are particularly hard to beat.

They have lost just once in their last six away matches, drawing four, and have scored in each of their last two away fixtures.

While wins have been rare on the road, their ability to avoid defeat and remain competitive keeps them firmly in contention in most matches.

Murang’a Seal will once again look to veteran forward Joe Waithira, who has seven league goals and enjoyed an excellent December.

Midfield control will come from Michael Owen, Maina Lucas and Telvin Maina, a trio central to Murang’a’s ball progression and game management.

The head-to-head record between these sides is evenly balanced.

Their last meeting in March ended 1-1, while Murang’a claimed a 2-0 away win in December 2024.

Both recent meetings were tight and tactically cautious.

Key Pointers;

Out of Mathare's last five away matches, they have scored in three.

In Murang’a Seal’s seven away games this season, they have scored in six, failing to find the net only once.

Murang’a Seal have scored in four of their last five away matches, with all four games ending in BTTS.

Their recent head-to-head meeting has seen goals at both ends(a 1–1 draw).

Despite Mathare United’s overall struggles in front of goal, their home matches frequently see them find at least one breakthrough, particularly against teams willing to control possession rather than sit deep.

Murang’a Seal’s long unbeaten run has been built on balance rather than conservatism, and their improved attacking output away from home suggests they are capable of scoring again here.

With both sides likely to prioritise control but still possessing enough attacking quality to punish small defensive lapses, this matchup points toward goals at both ends rather than a stalemate.

Best Bet; Both teams to score (BTTS - Yes)
