Boost for Nairobi City Stars as Bajaber and Kisilu resume training

Nairobi City Stars have received a big boost in their squad depth following the return of attacking midfielders Andrew Kisilu and Mohammed Bajaber.

The two players missed their league opener against Bidco United played last Sunday at the Nyayo National Stadium where the Thika based club won 2-0.

Apart from the two, the City Stars technical bench missed a coupe of players in the opener as new recruits Pius Omachi and Timothy Oduor followed the proceedings from the stands thanks to injuries.

The absence of Oduor who had been playing at the heart of the defence with the experienced Kennedy Onyango in the pre-season forced coach Nicholas Muyoti to play Rooney Kola, a defensive midfielder in central defence.

According to team physiotherapist Brian Odongo, both Kisilu and Bajaber are fully fit, thus may be considered for playing time when Simba wa Nairobi comes up against champions Tusker on Sunday at Kasarani Stadium.

“Mohammed and Ksiliu had been out with varied injuries but have since recovered and have rejoined the rest of the squad for full training. With their recoveries, they improve on the pool of players that the coach can select from for the upcoming matches,” he told club media.

The availability of Kisilu for selection may as well see him make his top-flight bow having joined the club from National Super League side Kajiado FC in the past transfer window.

The winger netted three goals in the pre-season while Bajaber found the back of the net five times in the test matches the club played.
