The winner of the tie between the two sides will clinch a first ever continental title.

Algeria’s USM Alger and Tanzanian giants Yanga will be on different collision courses when they face off in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final that will take place at the Stade du 5 Juillet in Algiers on Saturday night.

USM Alger, who carry a slight advantage following their 1-2 victory from the first leg played in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania a week ago, will be seeking to get the job done in their bid to clinch a first ever continental trophy while Yanga face the difficult task of upsetting the apple cart on away territory.

In the decider, the Algerians only need to avoid defeat at home in order to achieve the historic feat in front of the sold out 60,000-seater stadium.

“We are one step away from creating history for the club and we cannot miss this opportunity. We have prepared well tactically and mentally.

The whole team is ready for the final and we are ready to do our duty. Fate is in our hands and we are the ones to decide whether to make the game easy or difficult,” head coach Abdelhak Benchikha said in the pre-match presser.

It is eight years since their one and only continental final, when they lost to DR Congo giants TP Mazembe in the CAF Champions League, and the Algerians believe it is their time for joy.

“We are playing at our fortress, a stadium that no one can escape its wrath. This is not arrogance, but strength for us. We will be playing in front of our home fans and they will give us the extra energy.

We have the determination and great will to do well,” Benchikha added.

On the other hand, Yanga head coach Nasreddine Nabbi noted that mentality will be their biggest asset when they turn up for the do or die clash.

While they are also bidding for a first continental crown in their history, Timu ya Wanachi need a win of more than two goals to turn the tie in their favor.

“I believe we still have a chance to turn the tables. We are a big team in Tanzania and representing our country so we have to do our best in the final.

The mental aspect of the players will make a difference in this match. We have to go in with a strong mentality to fight in a difficult game.

We came here to fight with our spirits and blood. We will give our best and if Alger win, we will congratulate them. But we will give a fight,” the tactician said.

The match will kick off at 2200EAT.
