As it stands, Uganda are the only hosts left in the tournament after their co-hosts; Kenya and Tanzania lost their respective matches.

Uganda qualified to the semi finals after finishing at the apex of Group C following their dramatic 3-3 draw with South Africa while Senegal finished second in group D; tied on five points with Sudan but with an inferior goal difference.

With their triumph in the group stage, Uganda got the advantage of hosting the quarter final, an advantage they must maximize on if they are to reach the last four.

Uganda Cranes will be motivated by the fact that they were joint top goal scorers alongside Morocco in the group stages having netted eight goals.

However, their opponents also boast of one of the meanest defenses having conceded only one goal in the group stage.

The East African nation will also draw hope from the CHAN 2022 edition where they defeated Senegal 1-0 and the Pre-CHAN friendly match where they also defeated the West African country 2-1.

For Senegal, they are looking win the match with a bigger picture of defending their title- a feat done by Morocco who both the 2018 and 2020 editions

The winner of the tie will proceed to the last four where they will face Morocco who defeated Tanzania.

In the other match of the day and the last quarter final, Group D leaders Sudan have a date with Algeria who finished second in group C.

Sudan who crashed out of the 2022 edition on the group stage will be out to make it even better this time by reaching the last four while Algeria are keen to nurse the heartbreak of failing losing the 2022 edition final at home.
