Panama simply didn't stand a chance against the enthusiastic James Rodríguez and his teammates, whose 5-0 victory established Colombia as a trophy contender

Colombia play the best football in South America! At least that's the impression after the Copa América group stage and quarter-finals. Los Cafeteros proved that the top spot in a group with Brazil was not a coincidence, crushing Panama 5-0. And while Seleção travel home after a penalty shoot-out defeat against Uruguay, Colombia will face La Celeste in the semi-final and hope for their first Copa América final since 2001, when they won their only continental trophy.

Goals from set pieces, well-coordinated and practised actions, and using their biggest qualities in the best possible way are the features of Colombia's style of play at this year's Copa América. Jhon Córdoba broke the deadlock with a perfect header already in the eighth minute. James Rodríguez was impeccable from the spot in the 19th to make it 2-0, but the most attractive moment in the game happened in the 41st minute. Namely, the Colombians tricked the Panamanians after a free kick, Liverpool's Luis Díaz got the ball and ideally lobbed the goalkeeper Orlando Mosquera, making it 3-0 already at the break.

In the second half, Los Cafeteros just finished the work with two more goals. Richard Ríos scored the fourth goal with a 20-meter strike. In the added time, Miguel Borja found the net from another penalty for the final score - 5-0. The semi-final brings us another derby match and a clash between the two teams that have been awaiting the Copa América trophy for a long time - Uruguay (13 years) and Colombia (23 years).
