Rodri again made some worrying comments about his physical state

When he won Ballon d’Or in 2024, Rodri was at his peak. He was seriously injured (knee ligament injury) and missed most of the 2024/25 season so he came to the ceremony on crunches. He never got back to his pre-injury form. Manchester City midfielder is always in the starting lineup when fit, but his form is not at the level of year 2024. He is also more injured than ever, and he knows the reason – too many games. Rodri was one of the first players to openly speak about the increasing number of games and even talked about a players’ strike, which was supported by a number of players.

"If things continue like this, we'll reach a point where we simply won't have a choice. It's something that concerns us. This is too much. Someone has to take care of us because, after all, we are the main figures in this sport, this business—call it what you will. It's not all about money or marketing. It's also about the quality of the spectacle” he said back in 2024.

Off course, noting happened, the yearly schedule is still full but Rodri gave another worrying statement.

"Either we stop or I won't make it to 32. You have to know how to pace yourself, because the body has its limits and we all have an expiration date” he said on DAZN 's Premier Corner program.

The Spanish international talked about his mental and physical state when his country won the EURO 2024.

When that European Championship we won ended, I was incredibly worn out from reaching the final stages of everything for five or six consecutive years. More than physically, it was mentally that I didn't know how to face the following years because of the exhaustion” he revealed. Rodri is currently injured (again) but is focused on getting prepared for the upcoming World Cup.
