Messi's teammate had a lot to say about relationship he has with one of the best football players ever

Argentina star Leandro Paredes has revealed that Lionel Messi refused to speak to him for three months after a comment Paredes made during a Champions League match.

Despite being national teammates and later club teammates at PSG, Paredes managed to upset one of the greatest footballers of all time while Messi was still playing for Barcelona. The incident happened during the 2021 Champions League Round of 16 when PSG, led by Kylian Mbappe, defeated Barcelona 4-1 in the first leg. The French side later secured qualification with a 1-1 draw in Paris.

Paredes made a remark that Messi mistakenly took as directed at him, which led to the Argentine legend giving him the cold shoulder for three months. In a recent interview, Paredes, who now plays for Roma, admitted that Argentinian legend completely cut off contact with him during that period. The tension was finally broken when they reunited for international duty with national team.

'We spent about three months without speaking, I had a terrible time. I sent him a message the next day, I sent him a message 15 days later, I told him: 'It wasn't for you, it wasn't to offend.' He went three months without answering.Three months had passed without speaking. I thought: 'Now I have to see how he reacts'. But no, a phenomenon, a phenomenon, because we arrived at the premises on the same day. I arrived a little while early and he appeared in my room. I was brushing my teeth. It was very early and he threw water on me and said: 'What are you doing up so early?", Paredes concluded.

Ironically, Messi joined Paredes at PSG later that same year in 2021. The duo went on to win the French league title together before lifting the 2022 World Cup with Argentina in Qatar
