Mozzart Sport can exclusively confirm that Otieno put pen to paper with the White Rhinos on Friday, 6 February, in the morning, despite Migori Youth ending Thursday confident they had sealed the move.

The midfielder has been searching for a new club after parting ways with Kakamega Homeboyz following their Kenya Police match on December 22, 2025.

At the start of the year, Otieno trained with Premier League outfit Shabana to keep fit, before Migori head coach Sammy Otulo offered him a pathway back to competitive football through the border club.

While Migori were optimistic of finalising the deal, a late twist emerged on Thursday night when MOFA moved swiftly and completed the signing in Homa Bay, pulling off another coup against their South Nyanza neighbours.

Gospel has signed and he will be part of the team going forward,” a source at the Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga-powered club told Mozzart Sport.

Otieno joined Kakamega Homeboyz in 2022 from Kariobangi Sharks, but struggled for consistent minutes, managing just one start against Mathare United alongside a handful of second-half appearances.

The following season, he enjoyed a better run of games, beginning with second-half cameos against Nzoia Sugar and Tusker FC.

The fast-rising midfielder went on to cement his place in the squad and register more first-team appearances.

However, increased competition for places and changes in the technical bench saw his playing time reduced, and he was eventually released by the club.

Otieno will now be hoping to clock more minutes at promotion-chasing MOFA.

The Homa Bay-based side currently sit third in the 20-team second-tier league standings with 35 points, occupying the final promotion spot.

They trail joint leaders Migori Youth and Mombasa United by two points.

During the ongoing transfer window, MOFA have already strengthened their squad with the signings of Vincent Nyabuto from Gucha Stars, Steve Brian from Naivas, and Joshua Amunike from Nairobi City Stars.
