Fear at Stamford Bridge: High ambitions could see Enzo leave Chelsea

The Argentinian allegedly considers himself ready for another leap, as the Blues have been stagnating for some time

Chelsea are slowly but surely losing the Champions League race in the Premier League. Yes, they are only a point behind Liverpool in the standings, but based on their poor recent form and the fact that they face both Manchester giants, the Reds, Tottenham, and Sunderland on a hot away turf in the final eight rounds, things aren't looking good for Liam Rosenior and his lads.

The Blues are the reigning World Champions after claiming the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, and they won another European trophy last season, clinching the UEFA Conference League, but those trophies haven't satisfied everyone's hunger.

Given that Chelsea are currently far from winning the Premier League or the Champions League, and considering the uncertain managerial situation, Enzo Maresca's departure, and the general lack of satisfaction with Rosenior's work, some players may soon seek their fortunes elsewhere.

And when we say some players, we mean none other than Enzo Fernandez!

Namely, according to Argentinian TyC Sports, the midfielder feels he is ready for another leap to a more powerful club, one more likely to win major trophies. Real Madrid are the first that come to mind, while Paris Saint-Germain have already expressed their interest in the player.

Enzo joined Chelsea in January 2023 from Benfica for €121 million and has a contract until 2032. Hence, any interested party would have to splash out money for compensation, though it's hard to believe the Blues could recoup their investment.

In three years at Stamford Bridge, Enzo made 159 appearances, scored 28 goals, and provided 29 assists, winning two trophies mentioned above. Moreover, he became the team's vice-captain and an essential figure both on and off the pitch, with his leadership proving crucial in the locker room.

It will make his eventual departure in the upcoming transfer window all the more devastating for Chelsea.
