No, AC Milan boss didn't want to show any sort of disrespect towards the most decorated club in the world, but...

He was on the verge of sacking ahead of the recent city derby against Inter Milan. Then he won it. He was with his back to the wall before the UCL game against Real Madrid. Then he won it dominantly.

With this two major victories, AC Milan coach Paulo Fonseca has brought himself more time in the Rossoneri dugout. And after the tie at Santiago Bernabeu he said something that could easily be misunderstood.

"It is much more difficult to play against Monza than this game! People outside of Italy don't realize how tough Serie A is. Monza is so hard to beat.

"On the other hand, Real Madrid are the strongest in the world, but different types of games are played against them," Fonseca said.

The Portuguese tactician took to social media, too, to show his happiness.

"It was a magical night in Madrid. A show of character, courage and team spirit. This is the Milan we want. Thanks to all the fans who travelled and supported us at the Bernabeu," Fonseca wrote on X late on Tuesday night.
