Konstantinos Mavropanos moved from Stuttgart back to the Premier League

After the sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal for around 123,000,000 euros, West Ham threw themselves into strengthening all lines of the team. First, the Gunners signed two midfielders, Edson Alvarez from Ajax and James Ward Prowse from Southampton - and spent just under 73 million. David Moyes wanted to improve the competition in defense by hiring Harry Maguire, but the transfer of the former captain of Manchester United failed because his compensations with the Red Devils were dragging and the club didn’t want to wait that long. So the club turned to Germany and found a solution in Stuttgart.

As it has been officially confirmed, former Arsenal footballer Konstantinos Mavropanos is the new signing of the Hammers. The Greek representative signed a five-year contract with the London club, and the German club will earn a fixed 20,000,000 euros from the transfer, while another 5,000,000 could be added to their account as a bonus.

"I am very happy and excited to be here, to be back in the Premier League as a member of West Ham, a club with a bright future ahead of them after winning the League Conference last season. I am looking forward to the next step in my career, and I promise the fans that I will give my best for them and this jersey" said Mavropanos, who will wear number 15 on his back.

Mavropanos was discovered by the legendary coach of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, while he was still playing in PAS Ioannina, so the Gunners moved him to the north of the English capital in January 2018 for 2,100,000 euros. He made his Premier League debut three months later against Manchester United. However, he did not play well in North London, so after eight appearances in 18 months at the club, he went to Germany, where he played for Nurnberg. It turned out that Wenger was right about the player, as Konstantinos excelled on loan and got a new contract at the Emirates. However, only to be sent on a new loan for two years, to Stuttgart.

After he scored five goals in 55 appearances, the Swabians bought him in May of last year for 3,200,000 euros (previously they paid a loan of 750,000), so that in the following season he would play another 34 games and score three goals. He established himself in Germany, became a regular in the Greek national team, for which he made 19 appearances, and after everything he returned to London, where he will fight for minutes with Kurt Zouma, Nayef Agerd, Angelo Ogbonna and Thilo Kehrer.
