Odhiambo revealed that both his father and mother had long hoped to see him represent Gor Mahia, but neither lived long enough to witness the dream become a reality.

New Gor Mahia winger David Odhiambo has paid an emotional tribute to his late parents after completing his dream move to the FKF Premier League record champions, revealing that seeing him wear the club's famous green and white colours was their greatest wish.

The former Kakamega Homeboyz attacker took to social media shortly after his unveiling to reflect on the deeply personal significance of joining K'Ogalo, describing the transfer as more than just another career milestone.

Odhiambo revealed that both his father and mother had long hoped to see him represent Gor Mahia, but neither lived long enough to witness the dream become a reality.

The pacey winger lost his father several years ago before suffering another devastating blow with the recent death of his mother, who was laid to rest last month.

In a heartfelt message, the winger dedicated the move to both parents.

"A few years ago, before I lost my dad, it was his wish that one day I would play for this great team, Gor Mahia. It's almost a month now since I buried my lovely mum, and it was her wish that she would witness me play for this great team. Sadly, both of them left before they could witness this great moment. Today, as I begin this journey with Gor Mahia, I am very thankful to God for helping me make both mum and dad proud wherever they are in heaven. May they continue resting in peace," he wrote.

Odhiambo's touching revelation came just hours after he completed his move from Kenya Police FC to his childhood dream club, fulfilling a dream he could only dedicate to the memories of his late parents.

The exciting attacker becomes Gor Mahia's fourth signing of the ongoing transfer window as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the 2026/27 season, during which it will compete in both domestic and continental competitions.

He joins former Kenya Police teammate Daniel Sakari, striker Paul Okoth from Ulinzi Stars, and goalkeeper Michael Onyango from Equity FC as the record league champions intensify preparations for the new campaign.
