Fortune Sacco top the second tier standings after twelve rounds

Thriving Fortune Sacco striker Jacob Kareno has laid bare his intentions of laying hands on the National Super League top scorer's award at the end of the season following an electric start of life in the term.

The youngster who is in second season in the second tier having made his debut last year has four goals against his name and is hoping to score more than twenty before the season comes to a close.

The 20-year old who has been pairing Dennis Kariuki upfront said he had gained the requisite experience to bang goals at will in the competition and eventually be crowned the best scorer.

Another forward at the club is Stephen Onyango who came close in clinching the Golden Boot in 2019 where he finished as runner up before joining KCB. Onyango who is nursing an injury returned to Fortune last year.

"I have given myself a target of scoring at least 20 goals this season. I believe the target will see me claim the boot at the end of the campaign," he said.

Besides gunning for the boot, the goal poacher reiterated the club's objective of gaining automatic promotion to the top flight after narrowly missing out last season.

Fortune who are under the tutelage of player-cum coach Nicodemus Omasete sit at the apex of the standings with 27 points one ahead of APS Bomet.

"We learnt our lesson last season where we dropped points when it mattered most. We have resolved to maintain the good run up to the final fixture of the season so that we can get promoted this time round," he added.
