Frank Ouna is confident that Mathare United have what it takes to turn their season around following his appointment

New Mathare United tactician Frank Ouna is upbeat following his appointment to replace Salim Ali as the headcoach at the club.

Ouna revealed that he is aware of the task at hand and he is ready for the job.

I want to, first of all, thank the club’s hierarchy in placing confidence in me with this appointment. Mathare is a historical club and I am humbled to be here. I understand the task at hand and the only way to set things straight is to put points on the board. That is why I have been given the job," he said upon confirmation.

The former Wazito FC coach also said that Mathare is capable of improving their situation, adding that the players at Mathare are capable of turning things around.

“I know we can do it and improve on our situation because everything is already there in place. The players at my disposal are more than capable of turning things around and there is still so much to play for,” he added.

Ouna brings vast experience to the Slum Boys having featured at Gor Mahia's as well as Sofapaka's technical benches. He also had a stint in the national team from 2016 to 2019 where he served as the assistant coach.

At Mathare, Ouna will meet some familiar faces he worked with at Wazito in defender Austin Ochieng and keeper trainer Steve Mbogo as they worked together during his stint at Wazito.

His first assignment will be against a KCB team that has enjoyed a good run this season on Wednesday afternoon. He will be looking to have an immediate impact and turn the fortunes around at the club.
