Both Leopards and Gor have similar points tally but the 2024 champions have a better goal difference.
Heading to the Sunday clash against Mara, Gor understood that unwanted results would leave their eternal rivals perched at the top for a couple of days, having done their part well on Saturday.
With this in mind, Gor left nothing to chance as they dominated possession and created clear cut chances.
K'Ogalo took the lead in the 15th minute through Felix Oluoch, who connected a cross from Paul Ochuoga after a good build up.
Despite being double marked, Oluoch reacted quickest to make a deft touch on the ball, beating both his markers and goalkeeper Evans Omondi.
The forward would only last on the pitch for an hour as he did not make it after restart due to an injury.
Shariff Musa doubled Gor Mahia's advantage in the 30th minute, tapping in a cut back from Jackson Dwang.
Dwang had collected the ball on the right wing, drove into the area before finding the on rushing Musa whose deflected finish was enough to beat Omondi.
Second half substitute Samuel Kapen wrapped the three points for Gor after finding the back of the net in the 85th minute.
Meanwhile, Murang'a Seal returned to winning ways after edging Bidco United 2-1 at St. Sebastian Park.
Seal were coming off a disappointing 3-2 win against Gor Mahia, a loss that ended their 10-game unbeaten streak.
Paul Osama gave Seal the lead in the fifth minute, with Collins Akite drawing Bidco level in the 55th minute.
Jackson Imbiakha won the game for Seal after finding the back of the net in the 87th minute.
