Kenyan giants Gor Mahia lead the pack today when they take on Siaya-based Dero FC in a match set to be played at the Mamboleo Stadium, Kisumu from 1530 hrs.

K’Ogalo are out to nurse the heartbreak from the 2025 edition where they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Nairobi United in the final to compound what was a poor season for the club as they went trophyless.

In effect, Naibois earned Ksh2 million for their troubles but most importantly a place in the CAF Confederation Cup (CAF CC) where they are currently competing in the group stage.

With K’Ogalo setting their eyes on returning to continental football, they will be taking every match in this tournament with the seriousness it deserves, beginning with this afternoon’s clash.

Nevertheless, coach Charles Akonnor is expected to heavily rotate his squad, giving playing time to some players against the FKF Division II outfit.

Dero on the other hand will be relishing a chance against K’Ogalo and will be eyeing to cause one of the biggest upsets in the Cup’s history.

Dero will draw encouragement from Kwale-based Denmark FC as well as GFE 105 from Eldoret as some of lower tier teams who have eliminated Gor in recent years.

Still at the same venue, 2023 winners Kakamega Homeboyz will face Amani Youth from 1300 hrs to offer a double entertainment to the lakeside fans.

FKF Premier League teams will also dominate the action at Police Sacco Stadium when Murang'a Seal face Kahawa Pride from 1300 hrs before paving way for 2024 winners Police FC who will battle it out with Embakassi United from 1600 hrs.

2018 winners Kariobangi Sharks are away to Pwani Oil in a showdown at the KPA Sports Club, Mbaraki from 1500 hrs as Posta Rangers travels to the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru to face Chemogoch from 1500 hrs.

Military side Ulinzi Stars will be eying their first major title since 2010 with a journey that begins at Gusii Stadium where they face Kamel Park from 1300 hrs.

Mozzart Bet-Sponsored 3K FC will be visitors to Limuru FC at the Murigiti Primary School from 1500 hrs the same time when Zoo FC hosts Bondeni at Kericho Green Stadium.

Coastal side Rwafa FC will play host to varsity side Zetech University at the Kwale Stadium as neighbours Denmark welcomes Magadi Allstars at Komboni Grounds in Ukunda, both matches starting at 150O hrs.

At the Mkapa Stadium in Kitui, FC Dynamo will entertain National Super League (NSL) side Kibera Blackstars as Naivasha SYFA face Mfalme at the Longonot Horticulture Grounds from 1500 hrs.

Defending champions Nairobi United will sit out of this weekend's fixtures owing to their CAF CC match against Moroccan side Wydad AC on Sunday 8 February at the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani.

The 2026 edition promises to be more competitive due to the increased financial benefits as announced by Mozzart Bet.

The winner of the Cup will pocket Ksh3 million, a Ksh1 million increase from the previous three years. The runners up prize money has also been doubled to Ksh2 million while the third and fourth placed teams will walk home with Ksh1.5 million and Ksh1 million respectively.

In a new category, there will also be individual performance rewards totaling to Ksh8.4 million including Ksh200,000 for the Most Valuable player (MVP) while the golden boot winner, best midfielder as well as best defender will earn Ksh150,000 each, with the Most Promising Young talent walking home Ksh100,000 richer.

To boost visibility, the gaming firm allocated Ksh5 million for broadcasting and live coverage.

The impactful humanitarian cheque worth Ksh100,000 will continue being issued to Man Of The Match winners from the quarter finals.
