K’Ogalo have enjoyed a decent season thus far compared to the 2024/25 campaign, where they went trophyless for the first time in nine years after losing both the league title and the Mozzart Bet Cup.
The 21-time league champions are currently at the summit of the league table with 61 points, six more than their closest challengers, AFC Leopards.
With five matches to play before the end of the season, Onyango, who captained K’Ogalo to three league titles, has revealed what has been the team's main strength this season.
“One secret weapon that I feel they possess is that they do not necessarily depend on one player to score. Their goals come from different players, which then makes them unpredictable,” said Onyango.
The former Harambee Stars goalkeeping coach went further to explain how different scorers have shaped the team’s title race.

“We have had Alpha, for instance, scoring winning goals, including in the derby and against Shabana. We have seen Frank and Sylvester stepping in and scoring, and so are the likes of Assifuah and Shariff Musa.
That is why even in the absence of Felix (Oluoch) through injury, they have found a way of winning games,” he added.
Additionally, the 41-year-old asserted that this season’s title is K’Ogalo’s to lose, owing to the gap at the top and their overall performance this season.
“There is a general consensus among observers that the team has improved this season as compared to last season,” he remarked.
With the season in its homestretch, the Kenyan giants will be keen to win their remaining matches to avoid last season’s heartache, where they lost key matches at the tail end of the season to surrender the league title.
Up next for the Charles Akonnor-coached side is a tricky away match against Kakamega Homeboyz on Sunday, 3 May, at the Mumias Sports Complex from 1500 hrs.
