The two arch-rivals who double up as the biggest clubs in Kenya, locked horns for the 99th time at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday, 26 April, with Gor Mahia grabbing a 1-0 victory.
Captain Alpha Chris Onyango stepped up in the 83rd minute to pounce on a Bryton Onyona cross into the box before driving a low shot into the bottom right corner to give his side a much-needed win in the high-octane clash.
After the full-time whistle, K’Ogalo fans and players went into a frenzy with Morrison running to the supporters, where, in the midst of the wild celebrations, he aimed a dig at AFC Leopards.

“Tell them (AFC Leopards) to keep quiet. They talk too much. We are Gor Mahia, and so when talking, be careful. Put some respect to our name. Respect the green army.
Nairobi belongs to Gor Mahia. This is our time. To the fans, enjoy but do not abuse anyone,” said Morrison, as captured by journalist Stephen Ochieng and Sports Radar.
The dreadlocked midfielder was one of the key figures for Gor Mahia, covering every blade of grass in midfield and going hard with tackles in any duel that he could find.
However, he was lucky to stay on the pitch as some of his tackles were on the edge, including a stretched elbow on Tyson Otieno in the first half, which led to an uproar from AFC Leopards, led by chairman Boniface Ambani.
With the win, Gor Mahia have now secured victory in the derby 35 times, with a similar number ending in a stalemate, while Leopards have tasted victory on 29 occasions.
K’Ogalo have now inched closer to the FKF Premier League title after taking their points tally to 61, six points more than second-placed AFC Leopards, with five matches to play before the end of the season.
