Gor Mahia, Tusker learn dates for CAF Champions League, Confederation Cup assignments

FKF Premier League giants Gor Mahia and Tusker FC have officially learned the dates for their separate continental assignments after the Confederation of African Football (CAF), on Thursday, 2 July, released the match calendar for the 2026/27 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup seasons.

Gor Mahia, by virtue of clinching Kenya’s league title last season, are set to take part in the upper CAF Champions League, while Tusker, who were crowned Mozzart Bet Cup champions last month, are due to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.

However, the two clubs must pass through two rounds of preliminary matches to guarantee themselves spots in the main competition proper.

As per the schedule released by CAF, both Tusker and Gor Mahia will thereby begin continental action way earlier, starting with the First Preliminary Round on Friday, 4 to Sunday, 6 September 2026 (first leg), followed by the return legs from Friday, 11 to Sunday, 13 September 2026.

Should the duo get past their respective ties, they will then move ahead to the Second Preliminary Round, which is scheduled for Friday, 16 to Sunday, 18 October 2026 (first leg), and the decisive return fixtures taking place between Friday, 23 to Sunday, 25 October 2026.

As made public last month, both clubs stand to cash in a huge amount should they seal qualification into the group stages, with Gor set to earn a minimum of $700,000 (approximately Ksh90.3 million), and Tusker taking home $400,000 (approximately Ksh51.6 million).

As for the group stages, the two CAF competitions will run from Friday, 27 to Sunday, 29 November 2026, and from Friday, 22 to Sunday, 24 January 2027.

The knockout fixtures will then follow from 26-28 February 2027, leading up to the two-legged finals scheduled for between Sunday, 9 and Monday, 31 May 2027.
