The veteran flanker underwent the procedure on Friday, 26 June, after receiving pre-authorisation for the operation at Coptic Hospital along Ngong Road.
The surgery marks the beginning of a rehabilitation program that is expected to keep him out of action for up to six months.
Confirming the successful operation, Nyambua remained optimistic about his comeback, sharing a message of resilience on social media.
"New scar, same goal. Knee surgery done. Rehab starts now. This is just halftime. See you back on the pitch stronger,” he posted.
Nyambua had been battling the injury since the beginning of last season, forcing him to miss several matches before working his way back to fitness.
His return came in November 2025, when he featured against Daystar Falcons, helping Kabras Sugar cruise to a commanding 58-0 victory in his first appearance of the campaign.
The latest setback temporarily halts the journey of one of Kenya's most accomplished rugby players, whose influence has stretched across both club and international rugby for more than a decade.
Nyambua has spent 13 years with the Kakamega-based side, playing a pivotal role in transforming Kabras Sugar into one of the dominant forces in Kenyan rugby.
During that period, he has won six Kenya Cup titles, including the club's historic run of five consecutive championships between 2022 and 2026, while also lifting six Enterprise Cup trophies.
His longevity and consistency have made him one of the club's greatest servants, and his leadership has proved instrumental in Kabras' sustained success over the years.
Away from club rugby, Nyambua has equally enjoyed an outstanding career with the Kenya Simbas.
Having first earned a national team call-up in 2015, he made his full debut in 2017 and played his first full 80 minutes during Kenya's narrow 30-29 defeat to Germany at the RFUEA Grounds on May 27, 2017.
The match saw him share the pitch with established names such as Darwin Mukidza, Biko Adema, Wilson Kopondo, and the late Tony Onyango.
Last year, Nyambua celebrated a decade in the national team setup.
He has since amassed 45 international caps, making him the most-capped active player in the Kenya Simbas squad and one of the country's most experienced forwards.
