Hany, it's not funny! Egyptian defender makes history scoring two own goals at a single World Cup

The Pharaohs' right-back became only the second player in World Cup history to achieve this unfortunate feat
Yesterday, Egypt wrote a new chapter in their football history, recording their first-ever victory in the World Cup knockout phase.
In their fourth appearance, the Pharaohs advanced from the group stage for the first time and then took another step forward, beating Australia on penalties.
However, apart from making history at the team level, one member of the Egyptian squad achieved a significant individual accomplishment, though an unfortunate and unwanted one.
The seven-time African champions were 1-0 up from the 13th minute, when Emam Ashour broke the deadlock with his second goal of the tournament, and could have seen it out before extra time and penalties - had it not been for their defender, Mohamed Hany.
The Al Ahly right-back gave Australia a ray of hope when he levelled the score in the 55th minute with a clumsy own goal, heading the ball into his own net.
Still, honestly speaking, he deserves some slack, as just minutes later, he was lying unconscious after a collision with an Australian player.

Why?
Because it was his second own goal in the tournament!

Twenty-two days ago, in the Pharaohs' World Cup opener against Belgium, Hany gifted the Red Devils a 1-1 draw - interestingly, again annulling Ashour's opener - when he deflected the ball past his goalkeeper, trying to clear it in front of Romelu Lukaku.
This made the 30-year-old only the second player in World Cup history to score two own goals in the same tournament, after the Bulgarian Ivan Vutsov, who did so in 1966 against Portugal and Hungary.

However, there's one big difference.
Sixty years ago, Bulgaria were eliminated in the group stage. Egypt are still alive and preparing for the Round of 16 clash against the reigning World Champions, Argentina.
They'll just have to shadow Lionel Messi and keep an eye on Hany from time to time, and the quarter-finals will be within reach.
