Former Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick is the newest name on Bayern Munich's wishlist

With Thomas Tuchel set to leave at the end of the season, and the following the shocking news of Julian Nagelsmann's contract extension with the German national team, Bayern Munich are searching for a new manager on the other side.

According to L'Equipe, they could now turn to experienced Ralf Rangnick in their rather unusual public hunt for the next coach.

The club had been keen on convincing Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso to take over from the German, but their plans were left in disarray when the Basque man decided to stay for another season with the recently crowned Bundesliga champions.

Rangnick - who once managed Manchester United, and is now in charge of the Austrian national team - would be a surprising choice. Still, it would be one the club have long kept tabs on.

Rangnick would likely only be there for a single season with the club still keen on trying to convince Alonso to take over after all.

Another choice could be Zinedine Zidane, with Mundo Deportivo reporting earlier today that the club were close to convincing the Frenchman to join, although L'Equipe have suggested that the former World Cup winner is keeping his eyes on Manchester United's situation.
