Kakamega Homeboyz forward Oliver Majaka has reaffirmed his determination to clinch this season’s 'Golden Boot', insisting he will not ease up in his pursuit despite the daunting challenge ahead.

His impressive tally places him within striking distance of the league’s leading scorer, Joseph Waithira of Murang'a Seal, who currently leads the chart with 15 goals.
With only six matches remaining before the curtain falls on the season, the race has intensified, setting up what promises to be a gripping finale.
Paul Odhiambo of Ulinzi Stars has surged into contention with 13 goals, while Yves Koutiama of Kenya Police FC is level with Majaka on nine.
Close behind are Humphrey Aroko of Kariobangi Sharks and Michael Karamor of Nairobi United, both on eight goals.
Speaking on his ambitions, Majaka struck a confident yet measured tone, underlining his belief that the race remains wide open.
“It is not yet over in the race for the 'Golden Boot', and I am not giving up despite it looking like a tough task. It is still open, and anyone can win the coveted award. I am going all out for it,” he stated.
Now in just his second full season in the top flight—having made his debut midway through the 2023/24 campaign in February 2024, the youngster has set himself an ambitious personal target.
He aims to double his current league tally in the remaining fixtures, a feat that would significantly boost his chances of claiming the accolade.
“My aim now is to equal my current tally in the remaining six matches. If I achieve that, I believe I can realise my dream of becoming the league’s best forward this campaign,” he explained.
The St Peter’s Mumias Boys High School alumnus, however, offered a candid assessment of his performances, admitting that inconsistency and a lack of clinical finishing have occasionally hindered his progress this season.
“I have to remain consistent and take the chances that come my way. That has been my main challenge for much of the season. As we head into the final rounds, I am determined to step up and realise my dream,” he added.
Majaka will have an immediate opportunity to reignite his golden shoe charge when Kakamega Homeboyz face KCB FC this Sunday, 26 April at the Kasarani Annex.
The forward will be keen to draw inspiration from former teammate Moses Shumah, as he looks to close the gap and script a memorable end to an already impressive campaign.
