Kane scores a hat-trick for another trophy in Germany

Vincent Kompany arrived to Munich two years ago. Since then, the former Manchester City defender won two Bundesliga trophies, one Super Cup and tonight, he won the DFB Pokal after a 3-0 win over Stuttgart. The only missing trophy now is the Champions League. All this can be said for Harry Kane. Former Tottenham striker arrived a year earlier and waited a bit for his first trophy but now they just keep coming. He singlehandedly dismantled Cup holders Stuttgart and earned another trophy with a hat trick. Considering Bayern’s domination in Germany, it looks unbelievable, but this is the first domestic double (Bundesliga and German Cup) for the Bavarians since 2020. To be precise, this was Munich’s first cup final since going all the way against Bayer Leverkusen (4-2) in 2019/20. The Bavarians have also finished runners-up on four occasions, but when Harry Kane is in form, they rarely loose.

Since the beginning of this year’s DFB Pokal, the biggest threat to Bayern Munich were not Bundesliga teams like Stuttgart, Leverkusen or Leipzig, but third-tier Wehen. The Bavarians struggled in the first round of the Cup and were near overtime when Harry Kane scored a winner in the 94th minute. The England’s captain managed to find the net 10 times and scored in every game in this Cup. Bayern had no problem with other opponents and tonight Harry Kane was enough for the win.

Bayern player really poor in the first half, while Stuttgart did the opposite. They were brave, aggressive and attacking oriented which is why they had some good opportunities, while Bayern had none. Mittelstadt was the best Stuttgart player and his best opportunity came in the 17th minute, when his effort as tipped around the right-hand post by Urbig. Nubel had only one save, in the 37th minute, when Stanišić took a shot from over 25 meters. The second half however was completely different. Stuttgart couldn’t materialize their dominance in the first half, but Bundesliga champions needed only one good chance to score.

It was 55th minute when Olise broke from the right and his beautiful cross was met by Kane. It is really unbelievable to see Stuttgart defenders failing to cover the most dangerous Bayern player. The only footballer they couldn’t leave all alone was Kane but they did just that. The Bavarians nearly doubled the lead five minutes later, but when Nubel saved Diaz’s shot, the rebound fell to Laimer, who somehow managed to miss an empty net. From that moment, the game was totally dull as Stuttgart couldn’t create a single chance, while Bayern played patiently, not attacking much. But when opportunity arose, Kane was there. He took a stunning shot from 25 meters and hit the bar in the 80th minute. The ball went back to the field and Diaz found Kane in the penalty area. He turned around and scored for the final 2-0 but it was not the end. Stuttgart player handballed in the penalty area in injury time and Kane rarely misses from the spot: 3-0 and the end of a wonderful night for the England captain.
