The announcement came on Monday, 12 January, as the reigning champions look to strengthen their squad and mount a serious bid for back-to-back league glory.

Awesu arrives from Tanzanian powerhouse Simba SC, bringing with him a wealth of experience across East Africa’s top-flight football.

The midfielder has previously played for prominent Tanzanian Premier League sides, including Azam FC, Kagera Sugar, Singida Black Stars, KMC, and Mwadui United, offering Police a blend of tactical intelligence and experience in the middle of the park.

While the financial details or duration of the deal were not disclosed, Awesu is reported to have joined on a short-term six-month contract running until the end of the season.

The signing marks the fourth mid-season addition for Kenya Police, following the arrivals of Hernest Briyock Malonga and Bowamba Jacques from the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as Yves Koutiama from Burkina Faso.

The reinforcements reflect a strategic redesign of the squad by head coach Dusan Stojanovic, aimed at bolstering depth and injecting fresh competition as the team targets a second successive league crown.

The club officially welcomed Awesu on social media, posting:

“Sealed. Signed. Ready to deliver. Our newest recruit, Awesu Ally Awesu, is officially in the building! Welcome, Player!" The enthusiastic announcement underlined the player’s expected role in shaping Police’s title ambitions.

Currently sitting sixth on the 18-team FKF Premier League table with 23 points, Kenya Police trail leaders AFC Leopards by seven points.

However, with two matches in hand, a strong run in the coming fixtures could see them close the gap and reclaim momentum in the title race.
