The Law Enforcers earned their spot in the prestigious regional competition after clinching the 2024/25 FKF Premier League title, securing their maiden appearance in a tournament exclusively reserved for league champions from East and Central Africa.
The announcement was made through an official statement on CECAFA’s website, with Executive Director Auka Gacheo confirming that this year’s edition will feature 12 teams, including two from the host nation, Tanzania and a guest representative from Zambia.
“We are pleased to confirm that the tournament will take place in Dar es Salaam from September 2nd to 15th,” Gecheo said.
“This year’s competition promises to be highly competitive, as many teams will use it as a platform to prepare for the 2025/26 CAF inter-club tournaments.”
Kenya Police FC joins a strong cast of clubs that includes Tanzania’s Young Africans SC and Simba SC, Uganda’s Vipers SC, Al Hilal of Sudan, APR FC from Rwanda, and Ethiopia Insurance.
Others confirmed are Zanzibar’s Mlandege SC, South Sudan’s El Merreikh Bentiu, Aigle Noir FC (Burundi), MCC FC (Somalia), and Djibouti’s ASAS Telecom.
Zambia’s Red Arrows, who will feature as a guest club, are returning as defending champions after overcoming Rwanda’s APR FC 10-9 on penalties in last year’s thrilling final following a 1-1 draw in regular time.
Kenya Police’s participation marks a major milestone for the fast-rising club, whose recent domestic success has positioned them among the region’s elite. The tournament will form part of their vital preparation ahead of their CAF Champions League debut.
The Kagame Cup, backed by Rwandan President Paul Kagame, is the oldest regional club competition that remains a key stage for East and Central Africa's elite clubs to fine-tune their readiness ahead of the CAF interclub competitions.
