The Chelsea Under 18 team lifted the competition for the second successive time.

Kenyan midfielder Silko Thomas featured as Chelsea Under 18 lifted the Under-18 Premier League Cup after edging Fulham 2-1 in a final staged at the Craven Cottage.

The Under-18 Premier League Cup is a tournament that adds the extra competitive edge of knockout football to complement the U18 Premier League schedule.

It only took four minutes for Chelsea to open the scoring through Leo Castledine as his quick thinking caught the Fulham goalkeeper by surprise, curling the ball into the net.

After the shaky start to the game, Fulham finally got a foothold into the game and equalized through Luke Harris who was lucky to have the ball fall kindly to him after Oliver Sanderson and Ted Curd contested for an aerial ball.

In the closing half, both teams had chances to take the lead with Oliver Sanderson hitting the crossbar for Fulham and Jimi Tauriainen hitting the post for Chelsea.

With the game seemingly headed for a draw, Chelsea grabbed the winner with nine minutes left on the clock when Charlie Webster threaded in a neat through ball to Jude Soonsup-Bell who finished with aplomb.

Silko was introduced in the 84th minute Lewis Hall was rested with Chelsea holding onto the lead over their West London rivals to claim the Under-18 Premier League Cup for the second successive time.

The tournament failed to kick off last season due to the Covid-19 pandemic with Manchester City and Chelsea being the only winners thus far.
