Kipkirui ruled out for at least two more weeks

Nairobi City Stars have been dealt a hammer blow in their playing unit as winger Nicholas Kipkirui is set to face a spell on the sidelines owing to an injury suffered in a recent match.

According to head coach Nicholas Muyoti, the former Gor Mahia marksman picked up an ankle injury in the team’s 0-1 loss against AFC Leopards in the team’s first outing of the New Year 2022.

After missing four games against FC Talanta, reigning champions Tusker and back to back clashes with current log leaders Kakamega Homeboyz, Muyoti revealed that the former Zoo FC player is set to serve around two more weeks before getting back on the pitch.

“Kipkirui picked up a nasty ankle injury in our game against AFC Leopards which has ruled him out of action since January. He has however been receiving treatment from the medic at the club and in around two weeks time, he should be able to start training again,” the head coach told Mozzart Sport.

In Kipkirui’s departure, Simba wa Nairobi as City Stars are known have not struggled for form if their results are anything to go by.

The Jonathan Jackson funded outfit have managed to go unbeaten in four tricky games against newbies Talanta, who can be a stubborn opponent and reigning champions Tusker whom they secured wins over before they recorded two crucial draws against Homeboyz to prevent the Western based side from opening a possible eleven point gap at the top of the table.

Currently, the team are third in the log and will be looking to reclaim their spot in second place when they take on Kariobangi Sharks who are currently perched there courtesy of a superior goal difference.
