Omondi was unveiled on Tuesday, 9 December and takes over from Billy Agai, who now shifts to the role of first assistant coach.

Geoffrey Omondi will serve as the second assistant coach as the Blue Eagles restructure their technical bench.

Ochieng believes Omondi’s deep understanding of the game, sharpened over two decades as both player and coach, will provide the leadership the youthful bench needs.

We settled on Omondi because of his experience. We have a young technical bench made up of former players, and I believe he will guide them as they help the team,” said Ochieng.

He remains optimistic that the club’s fortunes will turn around before the halfway mark of the season.

“By the end of the first leg, we will not be in the relegation zone,” he added. “Despite where we are on the table, the boys play beautiful football. What they lack is the finishing instinct.

Omondi’s first test comes on Friday at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu, where All Stars welcome 10th-placed Naivas FC.

The club sits 19th with nine points from 12 matches, having registered two wins, three draws, and seven losses.

A former Western Stima player, Omondi brings a solid coaching background, having previously served as assistant coach at Western Stima FC, Ushuru FC, and Kakamega Homeboyz.

He holds a CAF B license and is also a KNVB-certified football coach instructor.

Away from the dugout, he is the founder of Atletico Stars Youth Soccer Talent Academy in Kisumu and holds a Diploma in Sports Management from the Kenya Institute of Sports Education.

His work strongly focuses on nurturing talent while promoting behavior change communication among young people.

We are excited for him to bring his winning philosophy, what he calls the 4 Ds: Discipline, Dedication, Determination, and Development, to the Kisumu All Stars team,” the club said in a statement.
