Former Liverpool will have a modified role with Red Bull as well

He was initially hesitant, unwilling to speak openly about taking over the Germany national team until it became clear that Julian Nagelsmann was on his way out. Jurgen Klopp avoided the topic right up until the national team coach resigned and the position officially became vacant. Once that happened, Klopp confirmed that he was ready for a new challenge and very interested in becoming Germany's next head coach. Shortly afterward, Bild reported that he would become the most powerful national team manager in football history. What exactly does that mean? At first, there were few concrete details, but the picture has gradually become clearer. Information about Klopp's future role within the national team has begun to emerge.

Bernd Neuendorf, president of the German Football Association (DFB), and Hans-Joachim Watzke, the Bundesliga's chief executive, are scheduled to meet with Jurgen Klopp in New York this weekend. Several details have already been finalized, including Klopp's choice of his closest assistants. According to Kicker, he has selected Peter Krawietz and Pepijn Lijnders. As a result, Benjamin Hubner, Alfred Schreuder, Bram Geers, and Benjamin Gluck will all leave the national team's coaching staff alongside Julian Nagelsmann. Goalkeeping coach Andreas Kronenberg, however, will retain his position. It has also been agreed that Rudi Voller will remain sporting director, while Hannes Wolf is expected to receive a significantly expanded role. Until now, he has served as the DFB's director of youth development, although Kicker did not specify what his new responsibilities will be.

As for Klopp himself, he is set to receive a four-year contract that will keep him in charge of Germany through 2030—taking him to the World Cup in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. Before signing, however, he must finalize the remaining details with both the DFB and Red Bull, as he is still under contract with the company until 2029. Even so, no obstacles are expected. Red Bull have no intention of demanding compensation for their Head of Global Soccer. His contract contains no release clause, only a provision allowing for a mutually agreed termination. However, the two sides will not completely part ways. Over the coming years, Klopp will hold two roles simultaneously: he will serve as Germany's head coach while also remaining a Red Bull ambassador, continuing to represent the brand in a different capacity. All in all, Jurgen Klopp is expected to have a free hand in shaping the future of the German national team. Very little, if anything, will happen without his approval.
