Police have been firing from all cylinders from the time coach Zdravko Logarusic was hired

Kenya Police have been reaping from David Owino’s versatility from the time Croatian tactician Zdravko Logarusic took over the reigns.

Before Logarusic joined the club, Owino had been predominantly used as a backup left-back, offering support and competition to the experienced Abud Omar.

However, the arrival of Logarusic at the club came with new responsibilities for Owino as the former Gor Mahia tactician has been deploying him in midfield.

A closer look at the Police squad indicates that the midfield is crowded and littered with decent talents but Logarusic has been overlooking that and giving Owino a chance to display his versatility.

Interestingly, Owino admits that he enjoys the midfield roles more than the full-back ones despite playing as a defender in the top flight for five seasons.

The player who is commonly known as Messi revealed that he had previously played as a midfielder before former Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi re-moulded him into a full-back and hence the seamless transition.

The midfield is not an unfamiliar territory for me. I grew up playing in midfield until Kimanzi made me a left-back at Mathare,” he opened up.

Asked about his preferred role on the pitch, Owino was quick to confess his love for midfield roles.

I wouldn’t swap a place in the midfield for anything. I enjoy expressing myself, carrying the ball forward and attacking,” he said.

Meanwhile, Police have been doing fairly well from the time Logarusic joined the club as the law enforcers have since risen to the top half of the standings.

Before the former Leopards coach who was hired to replace Francis Baraza in September, Police were deep into the relegation zone,

Owino believes that Logarusic is the man to inspire them to the title glory.

“We are going for the title. We are doing our best to bridge the seven-point gap between us and the top team. The coach believes in us( players) and wants the best from us,” added the former KCB player.
