Liverpool's forward nets twice as Colombia come from behind (2-1) to top favourites in the FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers
It doesn't get much better than this, does it?
Just a few days after his father, Luis Manuel, was freed by kidnappers, Liverpool's forward became the nation's hero with a brace against favourites Brazil on Thursday night, which provided his side with a stunning 2-1 win in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Moreover, Diaz netted twice in front of his dad's eyes, who almost collapsed in the stands due to the emotional rollercoaster the whole Diaz family had gone through in the last couple of weeks.
It was a sensational comeback directed by Diaz, James Rodriguez and their teammates after Brazil went 1-0 up thanks to Gabriel Martinelli's opener just four minutes into the fixture.
However, Brazil's momentum stalled after the Real Madrid winger left in the 25th minute with a left thigh injury.

Diaz equalized with an easy header in the 75th minute before adding another one only four minutes later. His father, Luis Manuel Diaz, fell on top of some people next to him in the stands as his son celebrated.
