The renowned French media outlet, L'Equipe, traditionally selected the Best XI in the French top flight for the year drawing to a close, and the choice was peculiar, to say the least

According to the long-standing tradition, one of the most renowned media outlets in Europe, the French L'Equipe, has chosen the Ligue 1 "Team of the Year" for the coming to an end.

The 2025 finally brought the second-ever Champions League trophy to French football, as Paris Saint-Germain at last accomplished their long-term goal. In addition, the Saints won the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France, demonstrating a genuine dominance.

And even though the Parisians ruled French football in 2025, after seeing L'Equipe's rather odd choice, a logical question arises: Did PSG really deserve to have ten players in the "Team of the Year"? According to the famous media outlet - yes.

If you are wondering if you read it right, the answer is again - Yes, you did.

Gianluigi Donnarumma (who moved to Manchester City in the meantime), Nuno Mendes, Willian Pacho, Marquinhos, Achraf Hakimi, Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha, Joao Neves, Desire Doue, and Ousmane Dembele have all been selected for the Best XI from the Saints' ranks, while the one remaining spot went to Olympique Marseille's Mason Greenwood.

Now, for some, this PSG's "omnipresence" will be completely deserved, while the others will see it as a (slight) sign of disrespect towards remaining Ligue 1 giants.

Either way, the decision was made and L'Equipe's reputation leaves no room for public doubt about the selection. Or does it?
