They were the first-ever couple's transfer. Then their career paths went in opposite directions, but it won't be a long-distance relationship anymore

Alisha Lehmann and Douglas Luiz played together at Aston Villa before making their joint move to Juventus in July 2024, which went down in history as the first-ever couple's transfer.

In the meantime, the 27-year-old Brazilian midfielder, who didn't impress at Juve, went on loan to Nottingham Forest. Injury issues (six different injuries over the past 15 months) prevented him from making a profound impact at the City Ground, as he made just 13 appearances for the Tricky Trees during this campaign.

His girlfriend also had a brief, lacklustre spell in Turin, but unlike Luiz, she stayed in Italy, joining Como at the start of the ongoing season. However, after playing just six games without scoring a goal, the 26-year-old Swiss forward decided it was about time to move.

For six long months, Lehmann and Luiz had been living separately, but their long-distance relationship will soon be a thing of the past.

Lehmann has agreed on a long-term deal with Leicester City. Speaking about her return to the WSL after playing in Italy, she said:

"I learned a lot and played with some great players, but England is my home, so I'm happy to be back."

Coincidentally or not, her boyfriend is also on the verge of another loan - this time to Chelsea until the end of the season.

According to The Athletic, the Blues are seriously considering signing Douglas Luiz on loan for the rest of the season. They are aware of his injury problems in the recent past, but also of his virtues, such as versatility and a considerable Premier League experience he accumulated during a five-year successful tenure at Aston Villa.
