Thiago Silva, 40, promised he'll go down to the ground if Fluminense manage to stay afloat. And kept his promise

Brazilian giants Fluminense were on the verge of relegation from the top division going into the ultimate two rounds. Thankfully for the Big Flu, they managed to survive with back-to-back 1-0 victories against Cuiaba and Palmerias (last night).

Thus, they definitely avoided an unprecedented embarrassment...

And it was emotionally overwhelming after the Palmeiras tie last night, as legendary Thiago Silva fulfilled his promise to the fans that he'll kneel if they secure their top-tier status.

Fluminense fans gave the 40-year-old former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain captain a standing ovation as he "covered" the entire half of the pitch on his knees. The footage of Silva's emotional celebration went viral and spread across social media in minutes.

No one knows if this is his last season as a professional footballer. If that's the case, he couldn't have asked for crazier farewell.
