Night games make a return as 2025/2026 FKF Premier League fixtures are released

This is after the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) released the fixtures of the 2025/2026 season, which is set to kick off on Saturday, 20 September

FKF Premier League fans will have to wait till November 2025 to have a taste of the much-anticipated club football game on the land, the Mashemeji Derby, that pits eternal rivals Gor Mahia against AFC Leopards.

This is after the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) released the fixtures of the 2025/2026 season, which is set to kick off on Saturday, 20 September.

The first game under the floodlights will be a Disciplined Forces Derby pitting Kenya Police against Ulinzi Stars, which will be hosted at Police Sacco Stadium from 6 PM.

Reigning league champions Kenya Police FC will kick start their title defense against Mara Sugar FC, who will begin their second-ever season in the top flight.

Gor Mahia, under the new stewardship of Ghanaian Charles Akonnor after missing out on the title by a whisker, will commence the season against Bidco United, who secured their top-flight status on the final day of last season.

AFC Leopards, who are hoping to end their 27-year wait to land the league title, will begin their hunt with a clash against Bidco United.

12-time champions Tusker FC will set the ball rolling against KCB FC, a clash that reunites the Bankers' head coach, Robert Matano, with his former side. The opening whistle will get underway at 1:00 p.m., setting the tone for the season ahead.

Sunday, 21 September, brings a full slate of fixtures. At Kasarani Stadium, Kariobangi Sharks, the Mozzart Bet Cup winners in 2018 and 2019, will open the day against Bandari FC.

Newly promoted Nairobi United face a tough test away to Kakamega Homeboyz, who make their long-awaited return to Bukhungu Stadium after staging their matches at Mumias Sports Complex last season.

Elsewhere, APS Bomet meet Shabana FC at Gusii Stadium, Murang’a Seal host Ulinzi Stars at St Sebastian Park, and Mathare United will lock horns with Posta Rangers at Kasarani.

The first Mashemeji Derby of the season, a highlight of the Kenyan football calendar, will be staged on Sunday, 30 November, when Gor Mahia welcome AFC Leopards to Kasarani Stadium for the opening leg.
