Omengo pumped after grabbing first goal this season, says Homeboyz is on the rise

Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder Eston Omengo is thrilled after scoring his first goal of the season.

Omengo found the back of the net during Homeboyz's 2-0 win over Muhoroni Youth FC in Muhoroni.

The experienced midfielder curled in a beautiful volley from a 25-yard free kick set piece past Ezekiel Owade, which was Homeboyz's tenth goal of the season.

Omengo, who has two assists to his name in this season’s Bandari and FC Talanta matches, hopes to contribute more towards his side's performance in the coming fixtures.

"I am very excited to score my first goal of the season and in over two years. It feels great to be on the scoresheet, especially from a set piece that I have always been working on in training. I hope to contribute more towards the team's performance," he stated.

The former KCB defensive midfielder also weighed in on Homeboyz's poor run at home and insisted they have been unlucky, but remained hopeful they would avert the poor patch in their backyard.

"We have not had a good show at home considering we've only won once since the beginning of the season, but all in all, we have been unlucky. I am very optimistic that we are going to arrest the situation and begin to post victories at home," he added.

Following Sunday's win, Homeboyz narrowed the point gap to six, and Omengo believes the race is wide open and his side stands a chance.

"The league is competitive, and every point counts. I am glad we closed on Rangers, and I believe we stand a chance because it's way early in the campaign. I want to urge my fellow teammates to focus on collecting maximum points," he concluded.

Homeboyz will host Sofapaka on Friday, where they will be seeking to record their fifth win of the season.
