Galatasaray defeated Fenerbache 3-0 and has seven points more than their rivals

The worst feeling in the world of serious European football is being a fan of Fenerbahce. There are clubs that invest huge amounts of money and still fail to meet their goals, but Fenerbahce is an extreme case. Robin van Persie, Nani, Edin Džeko, Dušan Tadić, Michy Batshuayi, Enner Valencia, Martin Škrtel, Gregory van der Wiel, Luiz Gustavo, Roberto Soldado, Vincent Janssen, Mathieu Valbuena, Emmanuel Emenike, Adil Rami, Andre Ayew, Islam Slimani, Bruma, Cengiz Under, Sebastian Szymanski, Fred, Dominik Livaković, Ederson, Milan Škriniar, N’Golo Kanté, Anderson Talisca, Marco Asensio, Matteo Guendouzi… Fenerbahce has spent fortunes on players and coaches, yet nothing has helped—losers remain losers, and they have not shaken off their losing mentality.

There is no club in Europe that has spent so much money and still failed to qualify for the Champions League for 18 years (since 2008). And as of tonight, we know that Fenerbahce will not be Turkish champions even after 12 years. Galatasaray has once again shown that it has spent its money far more wisely than Fenerbahçe, crushing them 3–0 in the 31st round of the Turkish Super Lig and moving seven points ahead of their city rivals with three rounds left in the season. Galata will be champions again, while Fener will deservedly end up in the mud once more, right where they belong, partly because of their arrogant statements during the season.

Karma also caught up with the “traitor” Kerem Akturkoglu. The former Galatasaray player moved to Fener last June from Benfica for big money, mocked his former club during the season, and said Fener would definitely become champions. Tonight, in his frustration, he repeatedly hit Victor Osimhen off the ball, pinched and jabbed him, behaving slyly. The Nigerian endured it as long as he could, and then retaliated in stoppage time. Unfortunately, Osimhen was held back by his teammates from physically confronting Akturkoglu, so Kerem escaped the punishment he deserved from the powerful Nigerian. Everything seemed to go wrong for Fenerbahçe tonight. It started with Anderson Talisca missing a penalty in the 13th minute. Then Victor Osimhen showed his dominance in the 41st minute, lobbing Ederson from about six or seven meters and sending Rams Park into ecstasy. Despite all the dirty tricks from the opposition, Osimhen managed to get on the scoresheet, which only made the visiting players even more frustrated and exposed their unsportsmanlike behavior.

It was unpleasant to watch Fenerbahce players trying to provoke while also avoiding a heavier defeat. Lucas Torreira had a goal disallowed for offside after a VAR review in the 56th minute, but just a few minutes later Jaidon Oosterwolde conceded a penalty. Ederson protested to the referee and received a second yellow card. Barıs Alper Yılmaz calmly converted from the spot. Before the end, Torreira managed to score legitimately in the 83rd minute to make it 3–0. In stoppage time, chaos broke out as Akturkoglu—whose promises to Fenerbahce fans proved as false as his previous declarations of love for Galatasaray—went after Osimhen, with the ever-temperamental Davinson Sanchez also getting involved. Had his teammates not restrained him, it seemed Osimhen would have flattened Akturkoglu. In the end, the situation calmed down, and Kerem got away without a scratch.
