He captained Watford in his only season but it ended in tears
Moussa Sissoko returned to Ligue 1 after playing for nine years in England, as Nantes paid $2.1 million to recruit the former France international on a two-year contract.
Sissoko joined Watford a year ago to help them solidify their Premier League status, but it turned out to be a nightmare season. Even though the former Toulouse and Newcastle man played in every league match for the yellow-blacks, the team was awful for most of the season and ended up relegated to the Championship.

The versatile 32-year-old will play under coach Antoine Kombouare, who will look to keep hold of the core of his young squad after an impressive mid-table finish. Nantes will play in European competition next season for the first time since 2004 after qualifying for the Europa League group stage by winning the French Cup, their first major trophy for 21 years. They will undoubtedly find Sissoko's experience precious.
Sissoko has made 71 international appearances for France but has not played since their Euro 2020 last-16 loss to Switzerland last year.
