The matchweek, the final of 2025, ushered in a new league leader, while the relegation zone also experienced changes, a true testament to the competitiveness of the league.
Mozzart Sport covered all nine encounters in the match week and chose to highlight some of the six lessons that were learned.
Experience propels AFC Leopards to league summit
For the first time in over a decade, Kenyan giants AFC Leopards are on top of the league after 15 match weeks, thanks to their experienced players.
Leopards shot to the top after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over struggling Bidco United in the last league match of the year, played on Tuesday, 22 December, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Ingwe began the season at a slow pace, failing to win any of their first three matches, with head coach Fred Ambani put under immense pressure from fans.
However, the club experienced a turnaround of results stemming from the Mashemeji Derby against arch rivals Gor Mahia, an encounter they won by a solitary goal, thanks to the experienced players whom Ambani resorted to.
Speaking after the win over Bidco, Ambani attributed their good run to the experienced line-up, including the front three of Julius Masaba, James Kinyanjui and Victor Omune, as well as the creativity of Tyson Otieno.
With Ingwe at the top, the team is staring at the possibility of ending what would be a 28-year wait for the league title.
Shabana finally adapts to Michira’s absence
Kisii-based side Shabana FC experienced a rough patch following the injury of their star player Brian Michira in a match against Tusker FC on Sunday, 5 October.
Michira’s injury was followed by a four-match winless run, including three consecutive losses for The Glamour Boys.
However, the team has been slowly but surely finding ways to win matches without their most influential player, and their 3-1 demolition of KCB FC demonstrated just that.
Shabana not only scored three past an in-form KCB side but also outplayed and outclassed The Bankers.
With the Harambee Stars winger nearing his return, Shabana can only foresee an improved performance in the second half of the season.
Dandora unsuitable for high-risk matches
Dandora Stadium is once again in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons after scenes of hooliganism were witnessed during the Nairobi United versus Gor Mahia match.
While a stadium’s size or location is not a justification for any individual or team to engage in hooliganism, a proper risk assessment will clearly reveal that Dandora Stadium is a risk in hosting high-risk matches.

Even before the match, it was clear that the fixture was going to attract a huge number of fans and with high stakes, especially considering Naibois’ victory over K’Ogalo in the 2025 Mozzart Bet Cup final.
During the Sunday, 21 December, afternoon clash, the stadium was packed beyond capacity and with no proper buffer zones between the two sets of fans, this was a recipe for two hazards with great potential to cause harm.
Paul Okoth is a gem
In what is his first season in the FKF Premier League with Ulinzi Stars, Paul Okoth has already established himself as the most prolific striker currently in the league.

The youngster once again impressed for the military side, scoring a hat-trick as Ulinzi Stars condemned Posta Rangers to a 3-0 defeat.
The three goals took Okoth’s tally to nine in the league so far, and he is emerging as a prime candidate to win the December Player of the Month accolade after bagging the November gong.
Osborne Monday ball finally finds rhythm
Former Harambee Stars midfielder Osborne Monday has been slowly but surely leading a transformation of fortunes at Murang'a Seal.
While the team began the season poorly and at some point issued an ultimatum to the former Kariobangi Sharks man, the tactician has been implementing his philosophy to his players, who now seem to be reading from the same script with him.

Seal’s 3-1 away victory over Mara Sugar FC was the first time they won back-to-back league games in 2025 and also extended their unbeaten run to nine matches - the longest in the league this season.
The team is now ninth on the log with 18 points and is looking at an even better performance in the second leg.
Inconsistency costing Homeboyz the title
Mozzart Bet-sponsored Kakamega Homeboyz would be leading the league table were it not for the inconsistency in results that the team has experienced.
The Kakamega-based side have on three occasions blown away the chance to go top of the league or to extend their lead while at the summit due to inconsistent results.

While Homeboyz produced a remarkable second-half comeback to draw 2-2 with Kenya Police FC after going two goals down in the first half, it marked their fourth match without a win.
With one win in their last eight league matches, Patrick Odhiambo must find a way of winning consistently if Homeboyz are to win their maiden league title.
