Stars Abroad: Abuya on target as Yanga move top of TPL

Harambee Stars midfielder Duke Abuya was on target for his side Yanga SC as they recorded a big 6-1 victory over Kengold SC at KMC Complex on Wednesday 5, February.

Abuya, who came in as a substitute, scored in the 85th minute to give Yanga their sixth goal of the day and wrap up a performance that saw them regain their lead on top of the Tanzania Premier League table.

The 30-year-old was at the right place at the right time to direct a Kennedy Musonda lobbed cutback to the roof of the net for his team’s 15th win of the season.

Moments after his goal, KenGold grabbed a consolation thanks to a wonderful strike from Seleman Rashid, who scored from the halfway line.

Zimbabwean Prince Dube gave Yanga the lead in the second minute before Clement Mzize added a quick second, capitalizing on an opportunity inside the box.

Pacome Zouzoua gave the league defending champions their third shortly after the half-hour mark, with Mzize bagging his brace in the 44th minute.

Coasting to a routine win, Dube got in on the attack just two minutes from the break to make it 5-0, before Abuya rose from the bench to add insult to KenGold’s injuries.

The win for Yanga, managed by interim manager Abdihamid Moalin before the arrival of Miloud Hamdi, meant they leapfrogged rivals Simba, who are now two points adrift but with a game in hand.
