The 20-year-old was present at the Cairo International Stadium as the team basked in the glory of a first Egyptian Premier League trophy since 2022, managing to dethrone holders Al Ahly and runners-up Pyramids.

The White Knights, just days removed from a painful shoot-out defeat to Algeria’s USM Alger in the CAF Confederation Cup final, needed just a point to fend off the challenge of the aforementioned challengers to lock up the silverware.

Moatemed Gamal’s side would go one up, delivering a priceless win over Ceramica Cleopatra, which was sealed by an early strike from Palestinian forward Oday Dabbagh in the eighth minute.

The Cairo side however had a second goal ruled out in the second half, when Chico Banza’s effort was disallowed for a foul in the 46th minute.

More drama ensued 10 minutes later, when Cleopatra missed a chance to equalize, after Spanish midfielder Ahmed Belhadji missed from the spot.

Zamalek, with the lead, ended up holding out the one goal advantage, seizing a 15th Premier League crown, and staging a remarkable redemption from their 8-7 penalty defeat in the continental scene on Saturday, 16 May.

For Ochieng, who was not named in the matchday squad, the trophy presented his first at the club he joined after crossing over from Sofapaka in September last year.

Video footage showed the Kenya U20 assistant captain soaking in the title celebrations on the pitch, and in the locker room with his teammates.

Meanwhile in Norway, Harambee Stars forward Alfred Scriven was on the pitch for 90 minutes as his Bryne FK side suffered a 3-0 defeat to Raufoss in the second-tier league (OBOS Ligaen) at NAMMO Stadion.

The 28-year-old, who was last week rewarded with five crates of eggs after delivering an impressive performance in his team’s thrilling 4-2 victory over Strømmen IF, could not add to his goal tally, as the visitors dropped their fifth game this season.

The defeat left them just above the relegation zone in 13th with seven points, after eight matches.
