In Denmark, Daniel Anyembe was introduced before the restart as his club Viborg suffered a 2-3 league home loss against Silkeborg. Alexander Busch and Tonni Adamsen put the visiting team two goals up inside the first 11 minutes of the game before Mads Sondergaard and Jakob Nielsen hit back for the home team to ensure the first half ended in a 2-2 draw. The winner came from Jens Gammelby in stoppage time from the penalty spot.
Anyembe and co. will seek to redeem themselves when they travel to FC Nordsjælland next week on Monday.
In Germany, Harambee Stars prospect Linton Maina played for 68 minutes as his club Cologne progressed to the DFB Pokal round of 16 after edging out Regensburg 2-1.
Regensburg went ahead in the 66th minute through Benedikt Bauer before two stoppage-time goals from Eric Martel and Isak Johannesson helped Cologne complete a dramatic comeback to progress to the round of 16.
