Despite the interest from other clubs, the message from Ulinzi Stars is clear:

Ulinzi Stars FC coach Stephen Ochola has revealed that his lead striker, Paul Okoth, has attracted numerous offers from other FKF Premier League clubs but insists the club is determined to retain the goal-getter beyond the mid-season transfer window in January.

Okoth, who joined Ulinzi from Migori Youth FC ahead of the season, has been the biggest revelation in the league this term. The forward currently leads the scoring charts with nine goals, two ahead of second-placed Joe Waithira, and has quickly become a key figure in the military side’s resurgence.

With clubs circling, including record league champions Gor Mahia, Ochola acknowledges the attention on his prized forward.

“No coach in the Premier League would say no to a striker of his caliber,” said the club legend, who was recently brought back to steady the team after a challenging start to the season.

Ochola is focused on helping Okoth continue his prolific form, not only to strengthen Ulinzi’s league position but also to enhance his chances of earning a Harambee Stars call-up.

“We will also try to improve him as a team,” he added. “As the staff, we want to encourage him to keep scoring goals because that is the path to a national team call-up and shining at that level.”

He expressed hope for Okoth’s international future, saying: “We are really praying that he gets that call-up, and who knows, he could be the next Oliech or Olunga.”

Despite the interest from other clubs, the message from Ulinzi Stars is clear: Okoth is staying.

“I am only praying that he does not get injured and also praying that we keep him around,” Ochola said. “He has received a lot of offers, but he is not going anywhere. He wants to perform with the team and help us get back to where we are supposed to be.”
