Valerie Nekesa highlights Junior Starlets' strong travelling contingent for Burundi U17 World Cup qualifiers

A historic win in this round would be the first time a Kenyan team qualifies for a World Cup competition
The Kenya U17 Girls’ National Team, the Junior Starlets, head coach Mildred Cheche has announced a formidable squad of 23 players for the first-leg match against Burundi, scheduled for Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The second leg of this decisive round will take place on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
The winner, determined by the aggregate score of the two matches, will earn automatic qualification for the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic in October.
The Junior Starlets will depart for Ethiopia on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 6 PM and are scheduled to return to Kenya on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 1:10 PM.
Kenya secured their place in this final qualifying round by defeating Ethiopia 3-0 on aggregate, while Burundi advanced after an overwhelming 24-0 victory against Djibouti.
