The smiley defender is also one of the most successful players in the league with six league titles to her name; three apiece for both Thika Queens and Police Bullets.
Speaking after helping Police to their third consecutive league title and completing her ninth season in Kenyan top flight football, Waganda revealed the secret behind her long, successful career.
“I promised myself that I am not going to just give up on football even if I do not get the opportunity to play abroad. I would grab and make good use of the opportunities that I get at home,” said Waganda.
“That coupled with discipline and hard work made it possible to achieve whatever I have achieved so far. Most of the players that I played with have since stopped playing but here I am with my sixth title,” she added.
Having featured for just two teams in that long period, the Harambee Starlets defender believes that plays a part to a long career.
“Longevity also comes with staying at a club for a significant time instead of roaming between clubs which in the end destabilizes someone,” she noted.
Further, Waganda reflected on Police Bullets’ third consecutive league title in only their third season in the WPL.
“There are no easy games in the league, especially here in Kenya. You really have to put in the work to be a champion. The secret has been discipline, team work and hardwork.”
The versatile defender also took time to applaud the Bullets management led by chairman Nyale Munga for a job well done.
“Our management has been really supportive and made it easier for us. We get ample time to train and use good facilities while also being supported well in our away matches,” she concluded.
