We are up to the task, says Homeboyz centre back

Homeboyz are among the top-flight teams yet to win the league title, but Odhiambo says the team has the ingredients to deliver

Kakamega Homeboyz trail league leaders Posta Rangers by eight points after the conclusion of nine rounds of the 2023-2024 season.

The gap between the Mozzart Bet Cup champions and the high-flying log leaders casts doubts over their ability to bridge it and compete for the elusive title.

Homeboyz, who are under the tutelage of Patrick Odhiambo, have recorded three wins, a similar number of draws, and lost three matches as well.

The inconsistent run is, however, not a source of concern for centre-back Potipher Odhiambo, who believes that they will catch and be among the teams competing for the title.

Homeboyz are among the top-flight teams yet to win the league title, but Odhiambo says the team has the ingredients to close in on the teams and sail past them.

The defender, who has been partnering assistant captain Brian Eshihanda at the heart of the defence, says there was time to rectify the areas costing the team points and catch up.

"There is no cause for alarm at all. There is time to bridge the gap and even go clear at the top. We are working hard to address the areas that have been denying us points," said the former Vihiga Bullets defender.

Among the areas that have been affecting Homeboyz' performance are the failure to win home matches, as the team has clinched maximum points once this season.

On Wednesday, Abana Abeingo dropped points yet again while playing in front of home fans after holding Rangers to a 1-1 draw.

Odhiambo insists that there is a need to deal with the nervousness that comes with playing at home.

"It's difficult to point out the problem in our home matches. I think we have been nervous and are losing points as a result. We have to get solutions before it is too late," he added.
